ATTENTION:
All dishes entered must be thoroughly
cooked and chilled when brought to the
Cooperative Extension Building for judging. Failure to meet
this standard will result in the dish being disqualified. It
would be a good idea to transport the dish on ice in an ice
chest to the contest. Microwaves will be available for
judges to heat samples before tasting dishes.

V. CHEF
DE RIZ |

1. Chef de Riz
will be selected from the first place winners in
the eight categories in Adult and Teen Divisions
in the Rice and Creole Cookery Contest. Winner
will be named the International Rice Festival
Chef de Riz for the year. Chef de Riz may be
called on to represent the Rice Festival during
the year. Winner will be awarded $50.00 cash and
an engraved plaque. |

2. Chef de Riz
will be selected based on rice dish score and an
interview with judges on his or her knowledge of
the nutritional value of rice, cooking qualities
of rice and types and varieties of rice. |

3. To be
considered for the title of Chef de Riz, the
contestant must be present at the Acadia
Cooperative Extension Service Building
at 10:45 a.m.
to be interviewed. |

GENERAL
RULES
-
Contest will
be held Friday, October 17, 2008 at the
Acadia Cooperative Extension Service
Building located at 157 Cherokee Drive,
Crowley, Louisiana
|

|
-
At least one
(1) cup of cooked rice must be included in
dish and listed in recipe. Wild rice is not
a cultivated rice in Louisiana and does not
meet the recipe requirement of 1 cup of
rice. Dishes containing rice products such
as rice cereals, rice flour, etc. must also
contain cooked rice. The exhibit must
include the number of servings indicated on
the recipe. For example, if the recipe
states that it serves six, then the entire
six servings must be displayed.

Ribbons will
be given for the top ten places in each
category. Tri-Color ribbons and a $20 cash
award will be awarded the Best Overall
dishes in the Adult, Teen, Intermediate and
Children’s Divisions.
