- The Children's Parade is always Friday afternoon and the Grand Parade is Saturday afternoon.

Well the 76th International Rice Festival was just outstanding this year. The weather was perfect and everything came together aok. New stage, New Sound and awesome Entertainment was booked.
THURSDAY - OCT 17th
This is the opening night for many food booths, arts and crafts booths, entertainment and the carnival.
- FRIDAY - OCT 18th
The First Day of the International Rice Festival is recognized as "Children's Day". Special events include the Official Opening of The Festival by the International Rice Festival President, Crowning of the Junior King and Queen, Rice & Creole Cookery Contest, Rice Eating Contest and The Children's Parade.
- SATURDAY - OCT 19th
Presentation of candidates for the International Rice Festival Queen. A special demonstration of Old Time Rice threshing is held on the grounds of The Baptist Church on Saturday afternoon. The 5K Fun Run, Acadian Accordion Contest, Fiddle Contest, Rice Poker Run and Car Show all take place Saturday morning. Music continues in the afternoon with bands on 2 Stages. In the midst of all of this, the Grandest of All Parades, The Grand Parade.
- SUNDAY - OCT 20th
Family Fun Day at the festival. Sunday from 12 Noon to 6 PM - Carnival Rides Only for the family. Tickets are $20.

The International Rice
Festival Association will be selling Pink Breast
Cancer Awareness T-Shirts this year and donating $5.00
off every t-shirt sold to the Miles Perret Cancer
Center Services in Lafayette. This organization assists all cancer patients going through chemotherapy and is a local organization. The Acadia Parish Schools have agreed to send fliers home with every child to help us not only sell the pink t-shirt but our poster t-shirt as well. In the past several businesses and financial institutions have helped to sell our souvenirs and this year is no different. The Crowley Fire Department has also joined forces with us this year and will help sell T-Shirts for us. Hope that you are ready and willing to help. Unfortunately, we all know someone that has fought the battle and we know firsthand how the Miles Perret Center does not discriminate. |
