Accordion Contest
The 71st
International Rice Festival is seeking entrants
for their annual Accordion Contest. The Contest
will take place on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at
the MID-FESTIVAL STAGE. There are TWO
DIVISIONS; YOUTH FOR AGES 0-13 AND ADULT FOR
AGES OVER 14. All contestants will be required
to play a CAJUN WALTZ AND A TWO-STEP. Prizes
will include $125.00 FOR FIRST PLACE. $75.00 FOR
SECOND PLACE, AND $25.00 FOR THIRD PLACE.
Applications may be obtained at The Rice
Festival Office located at 110 E 4TH
Street, Crowley, LA or by calling 337-783-3067.
APPLICATION DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 15, 2007.

Well for the 71st -
2007 International Rice Festival it was
confirmed today that Jeff Bates is scheduled to play
Thursday evening. Wayne Toups is scheduled for
Friday and rumor has it that he will be
performing at 2 different times - Friday
afternoon and then again Friday evening. We will
get conformation on that and report it back
here. And for Saturday evening they have
scheduled John Conlee. As more info comes
forward, we will post it. As of now, the
schedule listed on the site still refers to last
year.

Thursday Morning and
it is raining. Fear not, the weather is suppose
to get better at mid day and a cold front is
coming through. Should make for a wonderful
evening with Kira Viator and Bayou Beat starting
off the festival and also with Friday and
Saturday looking very good. Since it is held
downtown Crowley, everything is on pavement and
all this rain should not be a problem. Remember,
there is plenty of FREE parking ....
Friday and Saturday
with the highs in the 70's and the lows in the
50's. Outstanding ...

International Rice Festival schedule seems to be
complete. It went to press and a pocket schedule
will be available at the festival. The
International Rice Festival Association will
have a booth selling T-Shirts and other items.

finally started on the Main Stage Platform
located at the Court Circle. It is half way up.
A sure sign that the festival is getting close.
