The Children's parade is always on Friday afternoon and the Grand Parade is on Saturday afternoon.

INTERNATIONAL RICE FESTIVAL

PARADE SAFETY POLICY

 Grand Parade 2008

 *** Note: Parade will start at 10th Street and Parkerson Avenue***

All Participants must enter at the checkpoint on Parkerson Ave. and Northern Ave.!

There will be a Parade Committee Member to direct you from that point.

1. Signed Parade Agreement and entry fee must be turned in at Festival Office. A parade pass will be given at the time of registration. No vehicle will be allowed to enter the parade route without parade pass!

2. Only Children’s Kings and Queens may ride in individual cars. NO runner-ups will be allowed to take part! (see attached)

3. The Festival also will limit the ages of those taking part in the Grand Parade to 15 and older! (see attached)

4. No glass containers allowed!

5. All minor children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult!

6. All throws must be limited to wrapped candy, beads, plastic cups, etc. No live, sharp or sexually explicit throws will be permitted.

7. All throws must be thrown from the side to side, as far away from the float or vehicle as  possible. No throws can be thrown unless the parade is moving, nor can they be handed to anyone approaching the float or

    vehicle. DO NOT THROW UNTIL YOUR FLOAT OR VEHICLE REACHES THE COURT CIRCLE OR THE CROWD!

8. Riders must keep arms and legs inside the float at all times.

9. Drivers must proceed with caution keeping one car length behind the entry ahead of them and follow all state and local laws concerning traffic and alcoholic beverages for the safety of all.  POSITIVELY NO DRINKING BY THE DRIVER!!!!

10. No horses, donkeys, or mules allowed in the parade or any live animals allowed on floats or  in vehicles.  (Government Officials exempt)

11. All floats or vehicles must have a sign identifying organization, person, etc. All signs must be readable from a distance. BIG BOLD LETTERS are to be used.

12. VERY IMPORTANT!! All floats or vehicles will need to be decorated before pulling up in line! If you want to add additional decorations to float after parked in parade line you can –   but no  additional vehicles will be allowed to pass the entry point! (All items will have to be carried to float from vehicles)

13. You can line up any time after 10:30am until 2:00 pm on the day of the parade. First come basis. The parade will begin at 3:00pm. Break up will be back at starting point!

14. Any and all music played must be family oriented; no vulgar, racial, or sexual content allowed!

15. All costumes/clothing must be appropriate and suitable for family viewing and in good taste.

16. No trailers over 30’ (thirty feet) in length allowed.

17.  A copy of driver’s license and vehicle insurance MUST accompany all entries.

ANY UNIT NOT COMPLYING WITH THESE SAFETY POLICIES WILL BE REMOVED WITHOUT REFUND!!!!
